Norman Reed Memmott

1931 ~ 2016

NORMAN REED MEMMOTT passed away peacefully in his sleep February 17, 2016. He was born March 9, 1931, the youngest of 14 children, to George Francis Memmott and Genevieve Wright.

He attended West High School and met his wife Darlene Cannell at Mapleway Roller Rink. Roller skating was a favorite pastime of theirs for many years. They married September 1, 1950 and had five children together. Later the family expanded to include four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Norm was drafted into the Army shortly after being married and served in Korea until he was discharged in 1953. He worked for Western Rock Bit Mfg. /Kennametal Inc. for many years and later for Baker Hughes until he retired.

He was known in his Murray neighborhood for helping the neighbor's by snow blowing driveways and sidewalks on both sides of the street in the winter and helping to clear leaves from the yards in the fall.

Survived by his wife Darlene, children Debbie Morrison, Mitzie (John) Blair, Kris (Rob) Crabtree, Doug (Sean) Memmott. Preceded in death by daughter Toni Jean, his parents, and all of his siblings.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT. Visitation one hour prior to graveside service 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens cemetery.
