Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

Joy Louise Hampton Benzon passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the age of 87.

She was born April 30, 1931 to Theodore and Emma Myrtle (Reeve) Hampton in Maybell, Colorado. She was one of eight children. Joy spent her early years on the family ranch in Colorado. She moved with her family to American Fork, Utah, where she graduated from High School.

Joy moved to Salt Lake City for work, where she met her future husband. She married Robert Keith Benzon on March 26, 1955 and became the mother to five young children. She later took a job with the State of Utah and retired after twenty years.

Joy had the unique ability to make everyone feel like her family. She enjoyed ceramics and getting together with loved ones. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survived by daughter, Karen (Scott) Greenig; step-children, Robert B. (Louise) Benzon, Steven (Mylan) Benzon, Renee (Butch) Miller, Mary (Kelly) Carlson; daughter-in-law, Jill Benzon; 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter; brother, Larry (Karen) Hampton, and sister, Bonnie Winters. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert Keith Benzon, parents, siblings, and step-son, David Lynn Benzon.

Her viewing and funeral will be held at Larkin Mortuary (260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111) on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. The viewing will be from 10:00-11:15 a.m. and the funeral following at 11:30 a.m.
