Donald Verd Collier

1930 ~ 2018

Donald Verd Collier, age 87 passed away at home of natural causes on January 3rd. He was born on January 12, 1930 in Teasdale, Utah to parents Clarence and Elma Coleman Collier.

His family moved to Richfield where he graduated from Richfield High School in 1948. He later met Darlene through a friend. She became the love of his life. She waited fourteen months for his return from the United States Army. He served as a Corporal in the Korean War.

Darlene became his wife and lifetime companion. They were married February 14, in 1952 at the Manti Temple. They were married for 65 years and spent most of everyday of their time together.

He was an avid reader, was an excellent gardener and loved square dancing. He also enjoyed hockey games and deer hunting. He worked as a baker for the majority of his working years. He was a wonderful provider for his family and many times worked two jobs.

Donald is survived by his wife Darlene, and three children Marilyn (Roger) Barnes, Gary (Robin) Collier and Diana (Rick) Steck. He is also survived by brothers, Lamond and Bryce and sister, Opal Collier Johnson along with twelve grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Elma and father, Clarence, sister Ina Collier Stewart and two brothers Duane and Austin.

A viewing at 9:30am, funeral service at 11:00am with military interment to follow held at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery at 2350 South 1300 East on Wednesday, January 10th, 2018.
