Thomas Glenn Kimble

1946 ~ 2013

Thomas Glenn Kimble, 67, passed away Sunday morning after a valiant battle with multiple myeloma. He was as amazing facing death as he was living life.

Tom was raised in Ogden, Utah and attended Bonneville High School. While at Weber State College, he met Kathi Brewer. Their great love story began on their first date when they planned their entire life together. Kathi waited for Tom while he served faithfully in the Alaskan Canadian Mission. Tom loved his mission and attributed every ounce of success to characteristics he developed while serving. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple in June, 1968. Tom completed law school at the University of Utah and practiced international securities law for 38 years.

Tom's thirst for knowledge and search for perfection made him an expert in many fields. This was particularly evident in the way he pursued his hobbies, which included collecting art, restoring classic sports cars, building and riding mountain bikes, playing tennis, skiing, waterskiing, boating at Lake Powell, and working in his yard. Tom "traveled the whole world" and made friends everywhere he went.

Tom was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and often said that anything good that ever came into his life was a result of being an active member of the church. One of the things he cherished most of all was his time spent teaching the youth, especially the Young Single Adults. He sincerely loved each and every one of them.

Love was a defining characteristic of his life, as evident in his relationship with his family. Their greatest memories come from his wild sense of humor and desire to provide exhilarating fun for everyone. Tom's greatest joy in life came from being the world's best grandpa to Jake, Sam, Andrew, Sarah, Elise, Gracie, Thomas, Nathan, Ashley, and Katherine. They will always remember the love from their Pa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn, his mother, Bernice, and his oldest son Jefferson. He is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn, his children, Natalie, Curtis (Anne), JoAnna (Dave), Suzanne, Eric (Tiffany), his sisters, Kay (Dan) Van Kampen and Mary Beth (Nolan) Costley, and numerous dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Monument Park 15th Ward Chapel, 1320 South Wasatch Drive, Salt Lake City, UT. Viewings will be held on Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South and on Friday from 11:30-12:30 prior to services at the Ward. Interment at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

Tom deeply appreciated the competent and compassionate staff in the Huntsman Bone Marrow Department. There are too many to name, but he individually loved each one that served him.
