Jed H. Spencer

1961 ~ 2018

Jed H. Spencer, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 15, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Born to Russell and Mabel Spencer on January 3, 1961 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Jed lived in Murray his entire life; from a young age, he enjoyed time spent tinkering and inventing silly things. One story he loved to share about his childhood was about his pet pig, "Shirley," and an incident in which she ate his wallet and two prized concert tickets.

Jed was obessed with music; during early adulthood, he built his own speaker system and would DJ at parties. He loved Classic Rock the most; his favorite bands were Pink Floyd, The Doors, and the B-52's.

Jed was very shy and oftentimes kept to himself. In the 1980s, he met Kim McCashland. Following Kim's pursuit of Jed, the couple was blessed with two children: son, Casey, and daughter, Dorothy.

Jed worked for twenty years installing and repairing alarm systems, despite the fact that he was colorblind. He really enjoyed this work and oftentimes worked long hours. Later, he became the Lead Technician due to the quality of his work and an unmatched work ethic. After this time, Jed joined the Events team at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City, eventually being promoted to Overnight Events Supervisor.

In the early 2000s, Jed took on the role of loving grandfather when his two granddaughters were born: Serena (2006) and Maybela (2008). Jed's granddaughters absolutely adore him and will miss him very much.

Jed will always be remembered for his love of movies and the joy he found in sharing new films with loved ones. He loved quality time with his family and would treat them to dinners out at his favorite restaurants: Olive Garden, Red Rock, and Red Lobster.

Jed is preceded in death by parents, Russell and Mabel, and brother, Chris. He is survived by son, Casey; daughter, Dorothy; granddaughters, Serena and Maybela; longtime friend and mother of his children, Kim McCashland; sister, Jamie Hendriksen; brother-in-law, Gordon Hendriksen; niece, Haylee; brother, Dan; and countless friends and coworkers.

We love you always, forever you will be missed.
