Lois Schmeichel, born on March 14, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018. She was surrounded by family at her home in South Jordan, Utah.
Lois is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Schmeichel, of South Jordan, Utah, daughters Teresa Capener (Ted), Andrea Danlin (Cecilia), and Stacey Schmeichel (Darren Rowley), and her son, Gary Schmeichel (Amy), her sisters Eunice Brown and Carolyn Johnson, and her brothers Charles Nelson and Richard Nelson. She was especially proud of her fifteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her young son Kevin, whom we are certain welcomed her to her eternal home with open arms.
Lois was a devoted wife to her sweetheart Bruce, who fell in love with her the first time he saw her. They met at a "burger joint" while Bruce was vacationing with a friend in Michigan in 1957, and were married July 24, 1958. Lois joined the LDS church in 1970 along with Bruce, and remained a very active member all her life. Her favorite place to serve was in Primary. They have lived in Michigan, Oregon, Florida, and Utah. Over the years, Lois worked as a beautician and co-operated a drapery design business and print advertising business with her husband.
A viewing is scheduled for 9:30-10:45 on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Larkin Sunset Garden, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 11 am. Please join Lois's family as they celebrate her life.
