Paul William Nelson, beloved father, son, brother and friend, passed away at home on Monday, March 18, 2019. Paul was born in Hammond, Indiana and as an infant, moved with his family to Salt Lake City, Utah. He attended Brighton High School and Southern Utah University. He was also a member of the Sigma Gamma Chi Fraternity (Delta Chapter) at the University of Utah.
Paul loved the Gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ and spent many hours studying scripture. He enjoyed teaching the Gospel and served as a full-time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Frankfurt, Germany. He served in many church callings; however, his greatest calling was loving others.
He found joy and happiness spending time with his daughter. Together they read scripture and prayed every evening. They enjoyed going to concerts, movies, singing and watching sports. As a sports enthusiast, Paul knew every rule, team, player and statistic.
Paul is survived by his daughter: Brenna Nelson, ex-wife: Halley, mother: Carolyn H. Nelson, sisters: Julie Nelson and Suzanne Greep (Darcy), and brother Matthew Nelson (Darla). He is preceded in death by his father: E. Wayne Nelson, brother: Brent Nelson and his grandparents with whom he is now happily reunited. He loved his many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins as well as his close friends, which he also considered family.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28th, 12:00 pm at the Willow Creek 2nd Ward, 2400 East Alta Canyon Circle, Sandy, Utah. Friends are invited to visit with the family at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah on Wednesday, March 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Thursday morning at the ward building from 10:30 to 11:30 am prior to the service. Interment will be at Elysian Burial Gardens, Millcreek, Utah.
