Ronald Dale Hunt

1947 ~ 2015

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Ron was born June 26, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Dale Hunt and Athene Lowe Hunt. He was married to Peggy Jo Hoopes in the Los Angeles Temple, July 31, 1970. When he and Peggy first met it was magic, and their marriage has been an affair to remember for 45 years. He said the best decision he made in his life was to marry Peggy.

Ron had a passion for sports including basketball and golf. Graduated from Highland High in 1965 where his basketball team won the state championship. Graduated from the University of Utah, BS Psychology and served in the ROTC; graduated with an MBA from the University of Utah.

Served a mission in Ireland for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and continued to serve the Lord his whole life in various callings, including Elders Quorum President, Executive Secretary, High Councilor and Deacons Quorum Instructor. He served faithfully as Bishop for the last four years of his mortal life. He was a dedicated and effective home teacher. Ron touched many hearts with his service.

He was an avid sports fan who loved playing and coaching. His impact on the many young lives he coached is still felt today. He often said, "We're not raising ball players, we're raising men."

His true love and passion was his family and recently said, "his children were his greatest accomplishment." He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in their activities.

He was survived by his sweetheart and best friend Peggy; daughter Kristiann Nelson (Michael), Robert Dale Hunt (Jennifer), Thomas Lowe Hunt (Katie), Nathan Joseph Hunt (Melissa), and 12 grandchildren, and his sister Janet Hunt. He was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Athene.

He will be missed dearly by friends and loved ones, but we know he graduated with honors. Ron's was a life consecrated to the Lord

Funeral Services will be Thursday July 30, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with a viewing the night before from 6:30-8:30 p.m.; 2400 East Alta Canyon Drive, Sandy UT.

Family wishes to thank Millcreek Home and Health, and A Step Forward nurses and staff, and the attending staff at IMC Hospital. The family has appreciated the many prayers offered on his and their behalf.
