Robert Stephen Henry Millard

1927 ~ 2017

Robert Stephen Henry Millard was born October 7, 1927 to Herbert and Gladys Millard in Bristol, England. He served in the Seaforth Highlander infantry regiment during WWII. He married his beloved wife Rose Heller June 25, 1949. They had four children. After Rose's death, he married his wife Mary Sue Fisher.

He is survived by his wife Sue Millard, son David Millard (Nancy), daughter Tanya Duncan (Brad), sister Miriam Winegar (Bob), grandchildren Nicole and Paul Marshall, and numerous great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose, daughter Stephanie, son Andrew, sisters Ruth Odom and Rosemary Millard, and granddaughter Rachel Collins.

He worked at Hercules for many years. He was a master communicator who expressed himself clearly with precision and authority. He spoke with a rich and resonant voice, and wrote in a beautiful script. He could also quickly convey his ideas in concise sketches; before becoming an engineer, he had aspired to be a fashion designer.

After moving from England to Utah, he became passionate about the history and culture of the American West. He was a superb horseman, a competitive marksman, and an avid hunter and fisherman. In his later years, he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved his ability to serve in the Jordan River Temple during his retired years.

Private services will be held at a later date.
