Harry Glenn Hicks

1924 ~ 2015

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather Harry Glenn Hicks, passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Harry was born in Las Vegas, Nevada to Edward Charles Hicks and Edith Mae Black Hicks on September 28, 1924. He graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1942. After attending Idaho State University, Harry served in the US Navy during World War II.

He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1951, served an internship in New York City and completed his residency in Pathology in Long Beach, California. He practiced medicine at the LDS Hospital for 27 years, from 1962 to 1989.

Harry married Marilyn Janet Smith on June 9, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1972. They were blessed with four children, 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Harry is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn; his children Deborah (Jim) Moore, Guy (Susan) Hicks, Claudia (Armand) Binkhuysen and Becky (Brian) Vinchur; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 20th at noon at the Holladay 26th Ward Building, 4601 South Chapel Drive (2565 East), Holladay, Utah. Viewings will be on Thursday, the 19th from 6-7:30 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, and on Friday, the 20th from 11-11:45 a.m., at the Holladay 26th Ward building prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to either the American Cancer Society or the LDS Perpetual Education Fund.
