Mary Elizabeth Stauffer

1933 ~ 2018

Mary Elizabeth Stauffer passed away on December 1, 2018 in Taylorsville, Utah at the age of 85. She was born on September 1, 1933 in Annapolis, Maryland to Winston Bascom and Mary Johnson Webb.

Mary spent the majority of her youth in Annapolis, Maryland. In high school she excelled in academics and was the class secretary. In March of 1954 she married Fenn and soon after had two children. She was an excellent mother and spoiled her children rotten.

They resided in Ogden, UT where she worked at the Chamber of Commerce. The family moved to several different states. She quickly adjusted and made many friends in each location. Mary was an excellent designer and decorated all of her homes beautifully. She dressed with a sense of style like no other. She was a great cook and loved to entertain friends and loved ones. She had a beautiful voice and loved the symphony and opera.

Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various leadership callings. She went above and beyond what was required of her and enjoyed every minute. After Fenn died she moved to Utah to move closer to her daughter. She and her daughter were the best of friends and spent a lot of time with each other.

She then worked for the University of Utah and as in interior designer. Mary met and married Jim Cowen, and together they had a lot of fun traveling the world. She was a perfectionist and expected quality in everything she bought. Mary was a professional shopper and loved to look at every item in a store. In the past few years Mary valiantly endured declining health. She was beautiful inside and out and will be greatly missed by her loved ones.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Debra Croxton. Grandchildren, Aimee Marr and Fenn Stauffer III and great-grandchildren, Samuel Shea and Simon Stauffer. She was preceded in death by her husband Fenn Stauffer. Son, Fenn Stauffer, Jr and second husband Jim Cowan.

Funeral Services will be on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Mountain Shadows Ward, 7925 South 2700 West, West Jordan, Utah 84088. A viewing will be held from 9:30 ‚ 10:30 am prior to services. Interment will be at the Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden, Utah.
