Collin Cliff Nelson

1979 ~ 2015

Our gentle giant, Collin Cliff Nelson, left this world unexpectedly on May 27, 2015. He was born July 21, 1979 to Cliff and Karen Nelson who were thrilled to welcome a boy after three girls! Collin was one of the cutest little dudes ever with bright eyes, dimples and a smile that could melt anyone\s heart. He was doted on and loved by his parents and sisters.

Life was not easy for Collin; he lost his dad in an Army helicopter crash at the age of three and was left to grow up in a house full of women who couldn\t always understand this crazy little boy who did things like burp at the dinner table; but he always remained himself, despite any efforts to change him. Collin worshiped his dad and grasped any and all information he could learn about him. Like his dad Collin was intelligent and loved history, and even though he was often quiet, that knowledge was evident when he did speak.

Collin is a member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He graduated from Alta High School in 1998 and went on to earn his associates degree in Humanities and Social Studies from Salt Lake Community College. In 2006 he began his career at the Utah State Prison as a correctional officer and worked there until his death. Collin took his job seriously, and his easy going personality helped him deal with this difficult and important work.

Collin married Nichole Mendel in 2005, together they welcomed three beautiful children, Bryson Collin (aka \"B\"), Brenlee Nichole (aka \"Bear Bear\") and Bryler Cliff (aka \"Chunky Monkey\"). Their marriage ended in 2013. Collin loved his children more than life, and was never afraid to show it in hugs and kisses. His children were all he spoke and thought of. He absolutely adored them, and was so proud of each of them.

Collin was fun, easy going and always had a smile. He was easy to talk to and didn\t judge. He was always willing to help whenever he was asked, but seldom asked for help himself. Collin leaves a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled, but we take comfort in the knowledge that we will see him again.

Collin is survived by: his children Bryson, Brenlee and Bryler; sisters: Paula (Brian) Jarvis, Nancy Whittaker, and Brenda Nelson; nephews: Cameron, Tyler and Carson; nieces: Courtney and Caroline; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents.
