Scott James Thomas was born January 18, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John Keith Thomas and Pauline Paul Thomas. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his home in South Jordan, Utah on May 5, 2017, at the age of 54.
Scott graduated from West High School in 1984. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 1991. Scott was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He achieved the honor of Eagle Scout and served a full-time mission to Sydney, Australia.
Scott was kind, loving, and extremely hard working. He was always quick and eager to help and care for his many loved ones. Scott was crazy about the outdoors! He was especially passionate about boating and he cherished and lived for the many trips he constantly took to the various lakes surrounding his home. He also loved to drive! His affection and excitement for vehicles extended to cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, jet skis….pretty much anything with or without wheels! He also took great pride in meticulously building and maintaining his beautiful yard and home. His many passions led to his career choice, where he worked very hard as a General Manager at Purcell Tire.
Scott was married to Kayleen Butterfield on September 7, 1983 and they had one daughter, Nicky. Following their divorce he married Jani McKean Thomas on December 17, 1993 and became a father to her three children, Tiffany, Kodi and Derek.
Scott is affectionately survived by his parents John and Pauline Thomas; his wife Jani Thomas; his children Nicky Allman (Rusty), Tiffany Oteo (Enoc), Kodi Torgerson (Jessica), and Derek Torgerson (Angelita); his seven grandchildren, three loving siblings, and numerous extended family; as well as his beloved little Pomeranian, Lexy.
Funeral services will be held in the LDS chapel located at 10860 S. 3200 W, South Jordan, Utah. There will be a viewing from10:00-11:30 AMfollowed by a funeral service at12:00 PM. He will be interred at Lakeview Cemetery located at 1640 E. Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, Utah.
