Stephen Murray Young, 70, passed away May 13, 2016.Our sweet Stephen was born on November 16, 1945 in Provo, Utah.He was the third child of Murray Penrod Young and Bernece Cullimore Young.He grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School.He was called to the LDS Canadian Mission in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.After serving for two years he returned home and attended Brigham Young University.He met Carolyn Jamison and they were married on July 26, 1969 in the Los Angeles Temple.He transferred to the University of Utah to attend pharmacy school.After graduation, he worked briefly in California for Sav-on Pharmacy.Stephen and Carolyn moved back to Utah in 1975.Over the years he worked for Erickson\s Pharmacy, Safeway, Dan\s, and Maceys in Sandy. Stephen was a pharmacist for 35 years.He thoroughly enjoyed counseling and visiting with each of the people who came to the pharmacy, many of whom became close friends.It made him very sad to retire from the pharmacy because of health reasons. He valued all the people who he worked with and all the people who came to the pharmacy.
Stephen and Carolyn had five wonderful children. He enjoyed camping trips and road trips with his family. He liked photography and reading. Stephen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He served in the cub scouts, Elders Quorum, High Priests, Bishopric and was a Stake and Ward Missionary. He loved working with people at church and in his profession. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, to whom he was devoted for 46 years, his children Jefferson(Allison), Janelle(Andre) Bartlome, Joanna, John(Laura), and Jill(Jimmie) Arrington. He had 13 wonderful grandchildren who were the delight of his life. He is survived by his siblings Brenda Young, Kris Redford, and Jim(Lorraine) Young. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob.
Funeral services will be held onMay 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.at the LDS Church located at 4021 W. Shinnerock Dr. (11225 So.) in South Jordan, Utah. There will be viewingsFridayevening from6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at the Larkin Mortuary at 3688 W. 12600 S. in Riverton, Utah and at the churchon Saturdayfrom9:30 to 10:30 a.m.prior to the services.
