Maria De Jesus Llamas Zimmer

1923 ~ 2016

Maria was born in Sinaloa, Mexico March 3, 1923 to Hilario Llamas and Ysabel Troncosa. She passed away in her sleep due to natural causes December 2, 2016. Maria was a spitfire and was able to assert her independence for 92 years before she had to give up that independence and was cared for by others for the remainder of her life. Feisty things come in small packages and she wasn\t the exception. She left home at age 18 to exert her influence in the world. She traveled throughout Mexico, working and starting her adventure in life. She met the father of her first born, Jose Luis and he was born in Guadalajara in 1949. In 1955 she met, Romulo Contreras Moya and Hector was born. Romulo passed away while Hector was just 10 months old, which left Maria to care for 2 sons on her own. She married an American, Paul Zimmer and was able to bring her small family to the United States. She became a widow after a few years after the marriage to Paul and Maria once again had to bear the burden of raising her 2 sons. She worked hard and often times multiple jobs to provide for her sons. They did not go without, she saw to that. She was able to join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1977. She became a naturalized citizen in 1998. She later had to bury her eldest son, which was one of the hardest things she had to endure. She was then able to turn all of her attention to Hector and he was the recipient of much love and concern. She was always concerned for her baby boy and often asked him if he had all that he needed. She was willing to give all that she had to make sure he would not go without, even to her dying day. Maria loved her family!

Maria is predeceased by her husband Paul, her son Jose Luis Llamas.

She is survived by Hector (Michelle) Llamas, Granddaughters, Kristy Elaine Llamas and Denise Renae Llamas Jones and several great grandchildren.
