Carl Nyman Jr.

1927 ~ 2016

It is with heartache mixed with joy that we say goodbye to our sweet gentleman Dad, Step Dad, and Grandfather Carl Nyman Jr.

His passing has left us with a huge void; however we are joyous that he has graduated from his earthly bounds to travel the universe unencumbered with his sweet Marie. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Please follow his generous nature by making a donation to your favorite charity in his name.

Carl was born on October 7, 1927 in Price, Utah to Carl Nyman Sr. and Thelma Jeanne Fouts. His early years were spent in National, Utah, where his father owned a coal mine. His education years were spent in the schools of Price, Utah, graduating from Carbon High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon graduation. Carl married Nedra Nickerson in 1947 (later divorced). He studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Utah graduating in 1951 with his BS degree. He remained a U of U sports fan the rest of his life, along with the Utah Jazz.

After graduation he moved his family back to Price joining his father in business operating the areas Phillips 66 bulk distribution company and owned two gas stations. He was also very active during this time in the Jaycees on a local and state level and made life-long friends from this association.

The family moved from Price to Salt Lake City in 1964 where he eventually went back to school to complete his master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the U of U in 1970 while rearing four children and working full time. He founded Western Engineering, an instrumentation sales and consulting business that thrives today under the very capable hands of his stepson Jim Williams.

Carl had a second chance at love marrying Marie Williams. With that marriage Dad gained a traveling partner that took them both around the globe to enjoy amazing adventures together, with Italy being their favorite place to visit. These were some of the happiest days in his life. He welcomed his second ready-made family that brought him so much additional love and joy.

Carl is a man of great intelligence, with a wonderful baritone singing voice that brought him joy during his association with the Utah Chorale for many years, a true gentleman, a great father, stepfather, husband and grandpa. His presence in all of our lives will be sorely missed.

Preceded in death by his parents, wives Nedra Nickerson Nyman and Marie Williams Nyman and a son Mark Nyman.

Survived by his honored children Shaun Moeller, David (Val) Nyman, Cindy (Jim) Horrocks. Stepchildren, Karan (Lawrence) Mason, James (Joan) Williams, Audrey (Mauro) DiRienzo. 14 Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff and friends of Atria Sandy which treated him like their own for the last 2 Ω Years.

Rest in peace sweet Dad until we meet again. Love you so much! Ciao!
