  • Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend Sharon Carrillo, 56, left this mortal existence unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by her family, while listening to her favorite cellist Yo-Yo Ma at IMC in Murray, Utah early September 17th, 2016. She was born March 19th, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Phillip Ernest Atencio and Teresa Rose Newman.

Sharon is a kind, happy and sometimes silly big kid at heart. She is the most generous woman we have ever known. She took action without question or without having to be asked. She always thinks of others and unconditionally loves everyone around her. Sharon lived a full multifaceted mortal life. She is a naturally gifted cellist and shared her talent with people by playing and teaching. Although modest to a fault, she was skilled enough to receive a scholarship for music to attend the University of New Mexico in 1978 where she met her future husband Morris Carrillo III. Sharon and Morris were married on April 24, 1982. This year they celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary. Together they created their beautiful family. It was her proudest achievement. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her children's laughter, music and artwork.

One of her greatest blessings occurred in November of last year when her 1st grandchild Ariana Rose was born. Ariana gave Sharon the strength to carry on through her numerous physical challenges and supplied her with pure joy. She received great strength from her faith as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her faith provided her with a hugely supportive and loving community. She had many callings in the church but her last calling of many years as a Sunday School teacher to the youth of her ward gave her great joy and fulfillment. She influenced many of the youth with her heart-felt testimony of the gospel. She was able to connect with teens in a way that most adults cannot imagine. We wish her love, happiness, and godspeed in her post mortal journey.

She is survived by her husband Morris Carrillo III, children Kristi Ann, Patricia Anne, Julie Nicole, Morris IV, Amy Michelle, grandchild Ariana Rose Cherrington, sister Jeri Sokolosky and adopted sister Juli Paladino. She is preceded in death by her father Phillip Ernest Atencio, mother Teresa Rose Newman, sister Marie Dolores Atencio and brother Phillip Ernest Atencio Jr.

Services will be held Tuesday, September 20th, 2016 at 12:00pm preceded by a viewing from 10:30 am to 11:30 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Building at 1208 West 12400 South, Riverton Utah 84065. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery (801) 571-2771 following the funeral service. Please send flowers to Larkin Mortuary - Riverton 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, Utah (801) 254-4850
