Florence Thunell, age 99, passed peacefully into the eternities on Friday, December 6, 2013 in Salt Lake City. She was the daughter of Anna Scott Simmons and Edward E. Wallace, born in Shoshone, Idaho, June 25, 1914. She was married to Raymond Isaac Thunell on October 19, 1935, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Florence was a wonderful wife, and a caring and compassionate mother to five sons; R. Bruce Thunell (Judith), David Thunell (carrie), Steven Thunell (Pat), Robert Thunell (deceased) and Lorin Thunell (Susan). She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, and son Robert.
Florence was the epitome of energy and hard work. She returned to college at age 47 to earn her Associates Degree, then spent 30 years working at the Utah Dairy Council and Utah Dairy Commission.
Her family dinners were epic events of great food and a house full of laughing and joyful children and family. She cherished being surrounded by those she loved.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 12, 2013, at 1:00 PM in the Parleys 5th Ward, 2615 East Stringham Ave. The viewing will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM prior to services. Interment will be at the Larking Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 10600 S. 1700 East in Sandy.
