A very proud World War ll veteran, Sergeant Major William J. Resch, U.S. Army, retired, born October 29, 1925, in Columbus, Ohio, died December 16, 2103, in Murray Utah. Enlisted May 6, 1944, earned the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/5 Campaign Stars, the Army of Occupation Medal in Germany, and the American Defense Medal. Upon leaving active duty, he accompanied a fellow soldier to Salt Lake City and was so impressed by the Intermountain West that he decided to make his home here. Served another 20 years in the reserves. A tough cookie with a very soft heart, who was always willing to help someone in need. Employed by Westinghouse, Clark Leaming and at GE Supply as a credit specialist and at Debenham Electric as a Credit Manager. Leaves behind dearest friend of more than fifty years, Betty J. Welker. Friends will miss his sense of humor and seeing that gorgeous head of white hair. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Altaview Hospital, the Veterans Medical Center, Sandy Health and Rehab, Highland Cove Retirement and Intermountain Medical Center for loving, patiently, graciously and skillfully providing care during the last three months. In spring his ashes will be cast to the wind in the scattering garden at the Utah Veterans Cemetery and Memorial Park at Camp Williams where his name will be etched on a nearby monument. In accordance with Bills wishes, no memorial service will be held. Friends may wish to make a donation to Homes for Our Troops www.hfotusa.org in Bill's memory.
