Mona Lee Jackson Christiansen

1928 ~ 2017

Mona Lee Jackson Christiansen, passed away May 13, 2017, from the effects of Alzheimer's. Mona Lee was born September 17, 1928 in Venice, Utah to Fredrick Moyle and Leola Eugenia (Reeves) Jackson. She is the middle of five children; one sister, Noreen (deceased), and three brothers, Preston, Darwin, and Dahl (deceased). She loved growing up in Sevier County and always told wonderful stories of ice skating on the canal, parties and dances at the Fish Lake Lodge, and riding her horse with her brother, Preston.

Mona Lee met her eternal sweetheart, J. Arno Christiansen (deceased), at a church dance and they were married in the St. George temple on July 26, 1946. After they married they moved around to various places, but spent most of their years living in Provo, Utah, which was the place she loved most. She has six children: Wayne (Nancy) Christiansen, Orem, UT; Julie (Ron) Taylor, Orderville, UT; Fredric (Kathy) Christiansen, Rio Rancho, NM; Tim (Lisa) Christiansen, Orem, UT; Jan (Rodney) Hall, Spanish Fork, UT; Joyce (Cota) Wimmer, Orem, UT. She has 19 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent most of her years in the Rivergrove 2nd Ward. She loved the people of the Rivergrove Ward and served in many church callings in her ward and stake. She had a testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and loved the Savior. She loved her pioneer heritage and was a third-generation member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

As a family, we would like to express our thanks to the caretakers at Jamestown and Legacy Village of Provo for the loving care that they showed our mom, as well as Brighton Hospice staff and members of Quail Ridge Branch.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rivergrove 2nd Ward Chapel, 780 North 700 West, Provo, Utah. A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Rivergrove Chapel and prior to the funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South), Sandy, Utah.
