JoAnn Rae Carter Sondrup

1931 ~ 2016

JoAnn Rae Carter Sondrup, age 85, passed away on December 29, 2016. She was born on September 19,1931 to Stanley Carter and Rigmor(Ruth) Rasmussen in Salt Lake City, Ut.

JoAnn, formally of Lakewood,CO lived in Mendon,UT with her husband Richard. JoAnn had a lot of love to give in a small package. In a high school production, she played the part of Tiny Tim because she was so small. JoAnn was a loving wife and devoted mother to three sons Ron, David and Jeff. She was very active in their lives. As the den mother of their boy scout troop every kid wanted to be in her troop because she was the \"cool mom\". She was a member of the LDS church. Early on, with her beautiful voice, she sang in the church choir. Last Christmas she and her sister CarolAnn achieved a lifelong desire to attend the Christmas program with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. In later years she often went antique shopping with her sister. She loved gardening and had a passion for iris\s. Being a wonderful cook, she was known for her cakes, cookies and bread. JoAnn and Rick always had a variety of farm animals. The family favorite was a little lamb named Herk. She gave a life time of love and doted on her five grandchildren and eight great grand children, all of whom miss her deeply.

She is survived by husband: Richard W Sondrup of Mendon, UT, Sister: Carol Ann Arnspiger (Jack) of Bountiful, UT. Sons: Ronald W. Sondrup (Carole) of Windsor, CO, David Sondrup and Jeff Sondrup of Lakewood,CO. Preceded in death by Stanley Carter (father), Ruth Carter (mother), Bud Carter, Stanley H Carter and Jimmy Carter (brothers).

A private family celebration of life will be held this summer in Colorado.
