Shirley Grace Hancock

1926 ~ 2019

Shirley Grace Anderson Tarro Hancock passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 4:40 pm at the age of 92 and returned to her Heavenly Father and was reunited with her husband Edwin Hancock, daughter Jolynn Kitson, her parents Willis Franklin Anderson, Rose Margaret (Lewis) Anderson and her many brothers and sisters that preceded her in death. She will be dearly missed.

Shirley was born on November 25, 1926 in Derby, Colorado and was number 4 of 16 children. Shirley grew up helping take care of her many brothers and sister, she loved to make bread with her mom so that her brothers and sisters could enjoy a warm treat after school with butter and homemade jam of course. Shirley loved to tell stories of her growing up in Salt Lake when there were dirt roads in downtown and when her father would take her and some of her brothers and sisters in the wagon to the farmers market where they would be able to get the vegetables that didn't sell ‚ the family grew up poor but could not have had more love and support. The kindness that her parents taught her carried on for 92 wonderful years.

Shirley married Joe Tarro and had two amazing daughters Trudy Fullmer (John) and JoLynn Kitson/deceased. Shirley later divorced and then married Edwin Hancock, they were sealed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple, they lived in California for a short time and then moved to Sandy, Utah in 1975 where they built their home. Shirley loved her family and was very devoted, not only to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren but also to her brothers, sisters, neighbors and many friends.

Shirley could always been seen out in her yard, planting flowers and pulling those pesky weeds that she disliked so much, not only did she love her flower garden but she loved having a vegetable garden and loved sharing the produce with others ‚ she had a green thumb that could often make people envious; she was still taking care of her yard at the age of 91. Shirley loved to walk, garden, bake (in her younger years), visit and above all spend time with her family.

She had a wonderful life and will forever be missed by all those that knew and loved her, our hearts will never be the same. Thank you for the incredible memories and continual love and support that you gave.

Shirley was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and the Gospel of Jesus Christ; she loved to serve others and often gave more than she took.

Shirley is survived by daughter, Trudy Fullmer (Randy), grandchildren, Brett Fullmer (Jane), Kamille Fullmer (Bob Swindle), great grandchildren Noah Fullmer, Tatiana Swindle, Alec Fullmer, and Lily Fullmer, as well as brothers and sisters, Elsa Wilde (Jerry), Micky Rolfe, and Bill Skuppin (Hannah.)

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the gentle and loving care that Harmony Home Health and Hospice provided, notably Shauna, Lisa, and Diane. Also, to all the loving neighbors for their help and support, Sandy, Careline, Eric, and Bishop Jongejan just to name a few and to Trudy Fullmer for the around the clock loving care that she provided every day for the last 5 months.

Family and friends of Shirley are invited for a viewing at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy UT on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 pm.
