David Hyrum Thorne, age 66, passed away peacefully in the morning hours of June 26, 2019. David was born on June 4, 1953 to Chester Lawrence Thorne and Venla Jean Ericksen in Fort Lee, VA. After a brief stay in Virginia his family moved to Southern California, where David spent most of his life, until moving to Sandy, UT in 2016.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, David married Roberta Clare Shutts on August 2, 1975 in the Los Angeles California Temple. They lived most of their life together in and around Claremont, CA. They became the proud parents to 6 children. David studied finance and had a long, successful career in banking. The thing he loved most about his work was the people he got to meet. He had a natural talent to make friends wherever he went. He found great joy being outside with a fly rod in his hand or inside with a fountain pen in his hand. He also loved cheering on the LA Dodgers, but most of all, David loved his family.
He is survived by his eternal companion, Bobbie, and children: Shawna (David) Zitzelsberger, Steven (Megan) Thorne, Stacy (Sam) Knecht, Chris (Lauren) Thorne, Clarissa (Jared) Rigby. He is also survived by his brother, Grant (Susan) Thorne, his sister, Linda Thorne and 11 grandchildren. He was welcomed home by his parents, his brother, James, and his son, Scott.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019 beginning at 11Am at the Indian Ridge Ward, 9636 South 1700 East in Sandy. A visitation will be held prior to services at the ward beginning at 9AM. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
