Myrth Harrison Knighton

1923 ~ 2015

After 92 years of a life well lived, Myrth passed away on November 2, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born January 13, 1923 to Alma W. and Sarah Lovina Brown Harrison. She was the youngest of 6 children. They grew up and worked together on the family farm in Crescent, UT. Sports were an important part of their lives. She played second base on the school softball team.

She married LeRoy Knighton on December 10, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Her hands were constantly busy sewing, quilting, crocheting, and cooking. She enjoyed golf, bowling, card playing and travel. The Soapstone Cabin Group was a memorable part of her life for over 50 years. Myrth's backyard was her laboratory. She was always experimenting with unusual plants and every spring she was mad at the quail for eating her seedlings. However, it was her skill as a chocolatier that made her legendary throughout the valley. Each holiday brought a flurry of candy making and chocolate dipping. The holidays will never be the same for many.

She is survived by her children Merla (Scott) Bevan, Doug (Nancy) Knighton and Rhonda (Russ) Garrison, grandchildren Adam and Hollie Garrison, Brady, Jake and Carlie Bevan, Amanda Bitner, Kaitlin Parksion, Alyssa and Kelson Knighton, great grandson Luke Bitner and many devoted nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by husband and 5 beloved siblings who died in the order of their birth.

Special thanks to her caring niece Alene McCrimmon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 am prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
