Nelda (Polson) Petersen

1928 ~ 2013

Mom passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Mom was born to Art and Myrtle Polson in Sandy, UT. She married Douglas R. Petersen June 12, 1952. She lived out her final years on her own terms at home with her daughters and Miss Muggins her cat. Mom was a social butterfly and enjoyed golf at Alpine Country Club, crossword and jig-saw puzzles, bird watching, Bunko with friends, and bowling. Mom and dad enjoyed camping with good friends Guy and Dickie Sorensen and Cecil and Elna Terry and the company of many good neighbors. Mom and dad made their home in Sandy and Murray and their cabin in Brighton Estates. Mom was involved with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and with many drives for the Heart and Cancer Associations. Mom spent her youth gallivanting around the country moving to where ever grandpa's job, working on the railroads, took them.

Preceded in death by parents, husband, brothers Bill, Don, and Ted Polson, and sister Dorma Thornblad, in-laws Ezra and Frances Petersen, brother-in-law Dale Peterson and sister-in-law Wanda Smith.

Survived by sister-in-law Marva Orr. She also leaves behind her son Steve (Doreen) Petersen, daughters Shery (Lupe) Munoz, and Lori Yengich (Mike Howard); Grandchildren Cami Rae and Kasey Yengich, Cole, Tyler (Amber) and Alexia (Tyler Solt) Munoz, Danielle (Jason) Johnson and Chanz Petersen; Great grandchildren Maleigha Taylor, Gage Rolfe, Oliver Slade and soon to be Milo and Ridley Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, UT. Viewings will be held on Tuesday night from 7-9:00 pm and also from 10-10:45 prior to services both at the mortuary. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery.
