Richard Warren Zito

1937 ~ 2015

Richard Warren Zito (Dick), age 77, passed away in the arms of his loving wife on March 7, 2015, in Sandy, Utah, after fighting a short battle with cancer. Dick was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert Webster Zito and Helen Peck Williams Zito. He was the middle child of their three sons.

Dick was a member of the LDS Church. He graduated from South High School in 1956. He married Verlaine Showell in 1960 (later divorced) and had three sons. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1961. He served in the U.S. Army for seven years, achieving the rank of Captain, and was honorably discharged in March 1968. Dick worked at Merrill Lynch for over 30 years retiring as Vice President Sales Manager, Utah Complex. He made many lasting friendships while there.

Dick married the love of his life, Terrie Braby, on June 1, 1984. He liked to say "it was the best decision he ever made."

Dick had many passions: tennis, training and showing reining horses, and especially golf. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Hidden Valley Country Club. He was always competitive and definitely liked to tease his golfing buddies. Dick was very generous, had a great sense of humor, and loved family gatherings with his three sons and their families.

Dick is survived by his wife, Terrie, and children, Rich (Tristen); Tony (Vanessa); and Collin (Mindy), all from the Salt Lake area; his grandchildren, Mikaeli, Joey, Dylan, Gracie, Michael, Anthony, and Roman; his brothers, David (Jan), Carlsbad, California, and Dennis (Judy), San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. 10600 S., Sandy, Utah. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.larkincares.com
