Bob J. Ferguson

1938 ~ 2019

Our beloved husband, father, Papa and friend, Bob John Ferguson, age 80, returned to his Heavenly Father in the early morning hours of January 27, 2019, with his Dearest Connie by his side. Bob was born in Elko, Nevada to Joseph W. and Rena Oldroyd Ferguson. He lived his young life in Elko with his older brother Joe, then their family moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where he graduated from high school. Shortly thereafter, he joined the US Navy and served honorably on the USS Wilhoite. In November of 1959 he married Alona Kay Watkins and of this marriage, he was blessed with two beautiful children, Scott Ferguson and Debbie Ferguson. Unfortunately, this marriage ended in divorce, and in 1981, he met Bev Peterson who would become his wife, it is here that he chose to be the father to two additional children; Chandi Peterson and Kylie Peterson. He worked for many years and retired from IBM. In the mid-90s, he and Bev moved to Mesquite, Nevada, where they enjoyed the sun and warm weather. In 2004, Bev passed away and he was left to rebuild his life without her. Seven years ago, he met a beautiful lady, Connie Barnes, who he loved dearly. She was an incredible blessing to his world and that of his family, and this is where he chose his final daughter; Christy Calhoon. He was an incredible man who was loved and adored by all who knew him, he will be dearly missed.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph W. and Rena Ferguson, and his sweet wife, Beverly Wright Ferguson.

He is survived by his cherished love, Connie Barnes; his brother, Joe (Margaret) Ferguson; one Son: Scott Ferguson; four daughters: Debbie Ferguson, Chandi (Kevin) Schutz, Kylie (David) Jones, and Christy (Greg) Calhoon; and many grandchildren who will treasure their time with him.

His Journey's Just Begun

By Ellen Brenneman

Don't think of him as gone away

His journey's just begun,

Life holds so many facets

This earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting

From the sorrows and the tears

In a place of warmth and comfort

Where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing

That we could know today

How nothing but our sadness

Can really pass away.

And think of him as living

In the hearts of those he touched…

For nothing loved is ever lost

And he was loved so much.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2350 E. 1300 S., Salt Lake City. Family and friends may visit from 9:30am ‚ 10:30am prior to the funeral services.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Mesa View Hospice (Brenda and Gale) for their amazing care of Bob and keeping him as comfortable as possible; and Most Wanted, out of Cedar City, for their beautiful contribution of "The Dance" for his funeral service.
