Max Edward Lee

1931 ~ 2015

Max Edward Lee, 83, of Salt Lake City, died peacefully from natural causes May 22, 2015. He was born to Thomas Wilson and Janet Peterson Lee, August 5, 1931 in Spanish Fork, Utah. He attended Tintic High School in Eureka, Utah. He spent a night or two in the city jail after setting a fire in a local building or was it for taking a joy ride in the family car as a young boy? Later he attended and graduated from BYU, served in the LDS, Canada, Toronto, Mission and was a veteran of the U.S. Military.

On June 6, 1955, he married Betty Rae Lloyd in the Salt Lake Temple. They had 4 children, Michael Max, Laurie, Lynne, and Cory. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael Max and older brother Glen Lee. He is survived by his wife Betty, his children, Laurie (Keith) Fivas , Lynne (Carey) Lloyd and Cory (Kathy) Lee, his siblings; twin brother Rex L. (Dorothy) Lee, and sister Virginia Regis. 11 Grandchildren and 5 Great-grandchildren.

Max, or Edward, as he was often called by his wife, "Weenie" or "Squirt" by some of his family and close friends, enjoyed a full life. He was a dedicated provider working in sales his whole life with various businesses and industries. He was diligent in his service in the LDS church in many different callings, including a Salt Lake Temple ordinance worker for 16 years, and with his last calling as a Ward Greeter he delighted in weekly surprising members by pulling their leg, informing them that they were on the program for that day. He loved being with family at the Lee cabin at Fish Lake. A favorite past time involved passionately and vocally encouraging referees while attending and watching as much BYU sports as possible. He found joy and looked forward to being in the outdoors hunting, fishing and golfing. He loved people and would strike up a conversation with just about anyone who would listen to his reminiscing's of fishing in Alaska, the latest updates with BYU sports, and most of all the lives of his children and grandchildren. He was sure to have manicured hair and yard (both trimmed frequently), a shiny clean car, and neatly fitted, tailored clothes. However, dusty Florsheim dress shoes didn't bother him as he darted from 1st to 2nd base playing Ward softball back in the day. A twinkle in his eye could be seen while teasing his grandchildren, and pulling practical jokes in the neighborhood.

He will be missed by his spouse, family members and friends, not to mention his fellow Cougar fans (many of whom are family). In fact, hours prior to his passing he raised his arm in pride while shouting out, "Go Cougars!"

Memorial services will be held on the day that would have been their 60th wedding anniversary, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Rose Park Stake Center 1153 West 800 North (East Entrance) at 12:00 noon. Friends and Family are invited to pay respects prior to services from 10:00 to 11:45 A.M. Interment in the Lehi City Cemetery.
