Raymond Bert Stensrud Sr.

1923 ~ 2014

Our wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa, Raymond Bert Stensrud Sr. passed away on January 25, 2014, surrounded by family. Raymond was born to David and Signy Stensrud on June 15, 1923 in Salt Lake City, UT. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many callings throughout his life; his favorite of which was Gospel Doctrine Teacher. Ray married Edith Kloogh in the Salt Lake Temple on May 28, 1952. Dad attended the University of Utah earning a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. He was a teacher and principal in the Salt Lake City School District for 35 years. Ray always loved teaching math and continually thought up new ways for children to learn. After retirement, dad and mom visited their homeland of Norway several times. They thoroughly enjoyed their trips with Edith's brother, Kaare and his wife Tudi.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents whom he adored and was truly looking forward to being with again. Also, preceded in death by his brothers, David and Clarence, and his only sister, Beverly. He is survived by his loving wife, Edith, his brothers, Kenneth and Grant Stensrud, and all of his children. Dad and mom raised six children; Leif Kloogh, Raymond (Nancy) Stensrud, Kenneth (Sonja) Stensrud, Larry Stensrud, Floyd (Tamera) Stensrud, and his favorite daughter Audrey (Ralph) Stensrud-Doggett. He is adored by all of his children and his many grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 1, 2014, from 11 am ‚ 12 pm at the Nibley Park Ward Chapel, 2450 South 600 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84106. Interment at Elysian Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City, UT 84117.
