Marilyn Akridge Schank

Marilyn Akridge Schank passed away October 7, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born on in Santa Monica to Roby and Lucile Akridge. After the death of her father in 1934, she and her mother moved to Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High School. She earned a BS in Sociology from the University of Utah and a masters in Social Work from UC Berkeley. She also attended the Pasadena Playhouse. In 1960 she married Robert Edward Schank, a widower with 5 children she adopted and raised while managing a social work career. In 1962 the family moved to Hawaii where she continued her career.

She traveled extensively enjoyed the fine arts, practiced real estate, ran the Honolulu Marathon, and hiked the Inca Trail. She was a member of several professional organizations, the Outrigger Canoe Club and Rotary. She is survived by her children: Eric, Carol, Jonathan, Sam, and Tito; grandchildren: Verne, Maile, Aaron, and Alexandra; and great-grandchildren: Alihilani, Olivia, and Zane.

Visitation: Wednesday, November 1, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary (260 E. South Temple, SLC, UT). Graveside Services: Thursday, November 2, 11:00 a.m. at Salt Lake City Cemetery (4th Avenue and ‘N' Street, SLC, UT).
