Julie Diana Skinner Newren

1947 ~ 2020

Julie Skinner Newren, beloved mother, grandmother and aunt passed away on February 4, 2020.

Julie was born on January 12, 1947 to Ernest and Doris Skinner. She was the oldest of two daughters.

From 1956-1959, she lived in Hawaii while her parents served an LDS Labor Mission. She had so many fond memories of her time there that she loved to share with friends and family. She was able to vacation there later in life and was so grateful for the opportunity.

Julie graduated from West High School in 1964. She kept in touch with her close friends even when they moved away. She enjoyed traveling to visit them and traveling with them to various places. There's no doubt what an amazing friend Julie was. She never forgot a birthday or holiday.

In 1968, she married Jerry Morgan and together they were blessed with their son, Eric Morgan.

In 1975, Julie married Les Newren. Together they loved to travel all over. Some of their favorite places were San Diego, CA and anywhere the Corvette Club of Utah took them. They loved driving their Corvettes! Julie loved a fast car and she owned many.

Julie was known as Sassy Cinnamon in her Red Hat Group. She made so many dear friends and loved going to all the activities. She always had a full calendar with not only the Red Hat Group but Bunco, scrapbooking, cardmaking and book club.

Julie loved to read. The number of books she's read in her lifetime is definitely in the high hundreds or possibly even a thousand. Her favorites were anything that involved a mystery.

Julie loved to watch BBC shows and mysteries. She loved listening to music as well. Anything from classical to country—with a little Neil Diamond thrown in too.

Julie enjoyed spending time with her family. It didn't matter if it was her immediate family or cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces or nephew. Any time she spent with them was very precious to her. She especially loved dinners with her grandsons and going to the local drag show.

Julie enjoyed spoiling her second son Morgan. Her doggie brought so much joy to her life. There was never a time where she didn't talk about him or have a picture to share.

Julie will be remembered for her very giving heart and radiant smile. Anyone that knew her knows what an amazing person she was. This sassy, spunky lady will live on in our hearts and memories.

Julie is preceded in death by her father, mother, sister (Lani Houtz), and husband Les Newren. She is survived by her son Eric, daughter-in-law Stephanie, two grandsons Ben and Chris, 3 nieces and a nephew.
