Michael Scott Henderson

1957 ~ 2014

Michael Scott Henderson, 57, passed away, Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Holladay, Utah, contribute to complications of Huntington Disease. Mike was born April 1, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Ralph Kenneth and Betty Gene Joseph Henderson.

Mike graduated from Highland High School where he played the Bass in the Jazz Band and competed in track. He then attended and graduated from University of Utah where he earned a Bachelors in Finance and a Masters of Business Administration.

Mike served in the Japan, Fukuoka Mission from 1976 to 1978. He married Connie Ballantyne in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 19, 1983. As a member of the LDS Church he served diligently at each calling he was given. He was passionate about snow skiing, Japanese food, hiking, scouting, the gospel, missionary work, his family and his business. He was part owner and president of Henderson Wheel and Warehouse Supply. He served as President of the National Wheel and Rim Association.

Mike is survived by his wife, Connie Henderson, children; Scott, Kara who is currently serving in the Denmark, Copenhagen Mission, Laura who is currently serving in the Oklahoma, Tulsa Mission, and Alyssa. Siblings; Jim "Chris" Henderson, Paul "Marureen" Henderson, John Henderson, Sue "Yamil" Castillo and Sister in Law, Annette Henderson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Dave Henderson.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 3, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Holladay 24th Ward Chapel (4395 Albright Drive). The family will meet with friends on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery following services.

In lieu of flowers please make contributions to the Huntington Disease Society of America (hdsa.org) towards research. Mike was the second HD patient in Utah to participate in a worldwide study for HD as well as other studies. He was very willing to aid medical research for finding a cure for HD. At the end of his life he donated to the Gift of Life program. Let's cure Huntington Disease!
