Our beloved husband, father, Grandpa Russ/Poppy, brother and friend passed away, lovingly surrounded by his family, on September 2, 2014. Dad was born on January 9, 1926, in Salt Lake City, to William and Jessie Grow. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was proud of his service for his country. Dad married Norma Jeanne Cannon on June 6, 1952. During their 62 years together, they were blessed with six children, William (Janice), David (Morgan), Steven, Kathy (Ted), Richard and Kelly (Missy), 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren (the youngest one born just two days ago). Dad also leaves behind two sisters, Rosemary Gordon and Billie (Newt) Newton, whom he adored. His parents, his brothers, George and Clyde, and sisters, Virginia Sedgwick and Kathleen Singleton, preceded him in death. If you asked Dad what his one great success in life was, he would tell you it was his family.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014, at the Parleys Sixth Ward, 1870 East Parleys Canyon Blvd, at Noon. Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, or at the church from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Salt Lake City, UT.
