Cherie Jeanne Gee Justice

1936 ~ 2015

Cherie Jeanne Gee Justice passed away peacefully at her home, February 19, 2015. Cherie lived a rich life filled with love and joy, even at the end while battling her illness.

Cherie was born on October 16, 1936 in Vernal, Utah to Vera Showalter and Elwood A. Gee. She attended Vernal High School and Utah State University, where she was affiliated with Alpha Chi Omega sorority and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Education. After college, Cherie taught school at Morningside Elementary.

Cherie met the love of her life, Malcolm Flynn Justice, Jr. in Vernal, Utah. The two were married on August 12, 1960, after which they moved to Salt Lake City where together they raised two sons.

Over the ensuing 52 years, Cherie\s and Malcolm\s sense of adventure and fun led them to travel the world, often bringing their extended family or joining friends. Cherie cared deeply for her family and friends and regularly entertained them at her home. Sunday gatherings at her home were always a highlight of the week.

Cherie was involved with many organizations and activities in Salt Lake City. She served as President of the Ballet Guild and actively participated in Junior League, Museum of Fine Arts, PEO Chapter R, Town Club and the Salt Lake Country Club. She regularly joined her friends for Wednesday Bridge club.

Cherie took great pride in her grandchildren\s many accomplishments and each of their unique endeavors and talents. Her legacy is one of love and kindness.

Cherie is survived by her sons, Flynn (Mimi) and Jeffrey (Molly), grandchildren Nicholas, Michael, Thomas and Phoebe, brother E. Gordon Gee, and niece Rebekah Gee. Preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm, and her parents.

The Justice Family wishes to thank her physician, Dr. Mary Beth Scholan for her kind and dedicated care, and her caretakers, Marlene Carlisle and Heather Berthold, who made her last days bright and joyful.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Utah Health Science Department or a charity of your choice.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, February 27th at 12 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Lawn Chapel, 2350 East 1300 South. The family will receive friends on Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 pm and again from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the services, both at Larkin Sunset Lawn. A gathering for friends and family will follow at the Salt Lake Country Club from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
