Shirley Harston Millett

1933 ~ 2017

Shirley Harston Millett (84) passed away at her home surrounded by her family on June 8, 2017. She was born May 8, 1933 to Richard George and Anna Woodbury Harston in Kimberly, Idaho. She married her sweetheart, Merrill J Millett, in the Logan Temple. Shirley was a talented pianist, oil and tole painter, and bassoonist. She spent her entire life serving her family. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and willingly served in every calling that she had in the church. She spent years playing the organ in the temple and enjoyed serving there. Shirley served two missions with her husband in Atlanta, Georgia and Tallahassee, Florida. She loved all of her missionaries. The biggest achievement of her life was teaching her children about the gospel, how to serve, and how to dedicate their lives to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her confetti filled birthday cards will be missed.

Shirley is survived by her eight children: Richard (Georgia) Millett, Vernal, Utah; Cay (Terry) McKee, Hesperia, California; Wayne (Julie) Millett, Aberdeen, Idaho; Rodney (Cathy) Millett, Green Bay, Wisconsin; David (Paula) Millett, Sandy, Utah; Daniel (Sara) Millett, Round Rock, Texas; Jana (Steve) Warner, Layton, Utah; and Vicki Millett, Draper, Utah; 32 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Lorraine Harms, Vivian Alsop, and Ruth Martinez, and 1 brother, David Harston. She was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Merrill, her parents, 4 siblings, 3 grandsons, and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Draper 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 1617 East 12700 South. Friends and family may call at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah, Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. and at the chapel Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Funeral Directors, Larkin Mortuary LLC.
