Donna Arline Johansen Meier, dad's little jellybean and our beautiful mother, passed early in the morning on October 31, 2014, six weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Donna was born to Victor C.L. and Margrethe Jansson Johansen on September 8, 1928, in Salt Lake City, Utah. During her youth, mom pursued her love of tap dancing and singing, and shared those talents throughout her life. She was a cheerleader at South High, graduated in 1945, and attended the University of Utah. She met her eternal companion while working at her family's business (Vic's Cleaners) in Holladay. She married Gilbert Louis Meier in the Salt Lake Temple on September 20, 1948. After retiring from the University of Utah, mom served a mission with dad at the LDS Family Services in Salt Lake City. Mom loved her family and the Lord more than words can express.
Preceded in death by her parents and sister Blanche (Robert) Sidwell. She is survived by her husband and their children: Tommylu (Eric) Dahl, Shanna, Wade (Leslie), Shelly, Peay (Kelly), Wes (Lynn) and Golden; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and brother Vic (Jan) Johansen.
Viewings will be held November 4, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S Sandy, UT, and again at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on November 5th. Services will begin at noon November 5, 2014 at the Cottonwood 11th Ward, 1830 E 6400 S in Salt Lake City.
