Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Julie Castleton Hempel, returned to our Heavenly Parents on February 2, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was 65.

Julie was born on September 5, 1950 in Springville, Utah to George Vernon and Norma LaVerne Castleton. She was the seventh of nine children. She was cherished by all her siblings. She married Wayne Asay Hempel, on November 20,1969 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Julie graduated from UVSC in 1970 with a degree in business, an accomplishment she was proud of and lead to her career at Henriksen and Henriksen as a paralegal. After working with the law firm, the Henriksen\s became like family. She worked there for and retired after 25 years.

Julie was loved by all who knew her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She and Wayne enjoyed traveling with them. Family was VERY important to her. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She said her purpose in life was to be a mother. Julie had a great sense of style. She loved to dabble in many hobbies such as cross stitching, drawing, quilting, photography, sewing, crocheting and was exceptional in everything she put her mind to.

Her passion was music. She could sing, play the violin and direct music. She enjoyed being a part of the Schubert's singers for 15 years. Julie served in many musical callings as well as a beehive leader and a Relief Society teacher.

Julie is survived by Wayne, her husband of 46 years, her children Teresa (Mike), Steven (James), Karie (Brian), Joe (Amanda), David (Keesha), Valerie(Kendall) and her 23 grandchildren.
