Adonias Martinez

1931 ~ 2020

Our loving Adonias (Tony) (Bodo) Martinez, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 6th, 2020.

Adonias was born in Taos, New Mexico on July 4, 1931, to Santana and Agapito Martinez. He was the oldest of seven children.

As a young man, he joined the army (82nd Airborne) and proudly defended our country in the Korean War. He later met his sweetheart, Rose Marie Archuleta, and they had three children. Adonias set an amazing example of work ethic and always worked very hard. He was employed by Ron Case Asphalt and Roofing for many years as a superintendent. He made sure his wife, Rose, was able to stay home and raise their children and be there for their grandchildren.

Adonias enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time on his front porch. Most of all, he loved supporting his grandkids. He was always at their sporting events to cheer them on. There is no doubt he was their biggest fan.

Adonias was always dressed to impress and could dance the night away. He was such an example of strength and selflessness. He always gave all he had to offer and never expected anything in return. He was a devoted Catholic, believed strongly in the power of prayer, and was always praying for those he loved.

Adonias is survived by his children Peggy (Bob) Avila, Frank Martinez, and Tobias Martinez. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Ashley Nichols, Robert (Cassidy) Avila, Tyler Avila and Derrick Avila, his great-granddaughters: Kylie, Rixyn and Emery. He is also survived by his sisters: Maggie Gallegos, Fabbie Montemayor, and Edna Slattery.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose and three brothers: Toby, Blas, and Johnny Martinez.

We will dearly miss Adonias and cherish the wonderful memories we have of him. We find comfort and peace in knowing that he is back with his sweet and loving wife, Rose, and his mother, Santana.

A celebration of Adonias's life will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 from 2pm-4pm at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton, UT. A light refreshment will be served.
