Ralph Rohde

1925 ~ 2014

Ralph Robert Rohde passed away peacefully at his home in Layton, Utah on December 3, 2014 at the age of 88. He was born December 31, 1925 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ralph Rohde and Pearl Ella Jack. He grew up in Salt Lake City and attended East High School. He served 2 years in the US army. He graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Biology and Plant Pathology.

Ralph married Barbara Lou Carver on June 6, 1947 in Salt Lake City. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. He worked at Dugway Proving Grounds while building their home in Holladay. For most of his career he worked as a Field Supervisor for Del Monte Foods. He was hard working and accomplished many things in his life. He loved being outdoors, gardening, camping and building things. His favorite place was the Redwood Forest. He had a common sense approach to life and was a kind and generous man. He loved his family and they loved him in return. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, 2 sisters, Jacqueline Hadlock (Milo) and Norma Rohde, and 5 children: Mark (Winnie), Ann Rothlisberger (Dana), Carol Christensen (Dave), Jill (Jerry), and Robert (Britt). He was adored by 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
