Laura Smith Barlow Denos

1943 ~ 2017

Our beautiful Mother passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2017 in her home, after a hard fought battle, surrounded by a full house of those who loved her. She was born on February 7, 1943 in Salt Lake City Utah to Albert Edmund and Vio Fraser Barlow. She married the love of her life, George Willyns Denos, on the 19th of September, 1960. They shared 49 beautiful years and built a wonderful life together.

Our Mother was a master teacher. She taught her children true inner strength, selflessness and perseverance. Through example, her children learned unconditional love. Anyone she came in contact with quickly fell in love with her and her infectious spirit. She enjoyed spending her time painting ceramics at the senior center every Tuesday with her sisters and friends, just like her Mother did. Even more so, she enjoyed giving them away to her many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, among others, and seeing the joy that her special talent brought. Her family was her life and few things brought her more joy than spoiling them at Christmas with her special Christmas sacks and uniquely hand-painted treasures. Her laugh and personality could brighten up a room, and everyone loved to be around her. She was active in the LDS church and loved going to church with her son and his family. Her children loved to tease her about her micromanaging to which she would laugh, swear she wasn't micromanaging and that she just wanted it done her way. Laughter and humor was a constant for her and it makes for some fond memories of our sweet Mom.

She is survived by her sixteen children, Colleen (Rod) Christiansen, Judy (Curtis) Bartell, Thomas (Holly) Denos, Sherrie (Chad) Eggett, Benjamin Denos, Marian (Michael) Malmstrom, Sandy (Hyrum) Jenson, Laurie (Wes) Galan, Jonathan (Becca) Denos, Joanna Denos, Janele Aldana, Bryan (Sheila) Denos, Richard Denos, Michael (Shannon) Denos, Tiffany (Luke) Purcell and Matthew (Mollie) Denos, 52 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, Marian Barlow Denos, her brothers and sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, grandson Cody Jenson, as well as Brandi Romero Harris, John-John Denos, and Justin Palou who were near and dear to her heart. Our sincerest appreciation to Dr. Muhlestein and Brighton Hospice for the amazing care and love rendered to her and our large family.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29 at 11:00 AM with interment following at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E Dimple Dell Road (10600 S.) in Sandy, Utah.
