Carol Ann Jones Lavulo-Umphenour was born in the small town of Henefer, Utah on January 9, 1937, to Edna Gerrard Jones and Ronald Maurice Jones.Edna looked at her much longed for daughter and decided to name her after the songs she loved, Christmas Carols.

Carol was cherished by her family. She adored her older brothers and they referred to her as "The China Doll" as she was probably the most dainty, feminine, "pink" girl you would ever meet.Carol shared a unique and unbreakable bond with her mother. They were incredibly close; each other's best friend and I know that mother loved her mother more than she ever loved anyone. After Grandma Jones passed on, Carol was devastated and would visit the gravesite daily, mourning her loss.

Carol was a nurturer. She loved "doggies and kitties".Carol said that when she died, she was going to take care of all the animals in heaven.Carol donated monthly to charity organizations for the protection of animals.Mom's dogs were always by her side and her dog ‘Happy' would not leave her side as she slipped into unconsciousness on Sunday, February 24.

Carol was an artist who had a talent for painting and drawing. She was majoring in art at BYU when she met Siosaia Lavulo. Both artists, they were drawn to one another and married.Carol and Saia raised four children in Woods Cross, Utah. When Saia passed on February 22, 1986, Carol went on to marry her sweetheart Darrell C. Umphenour. They have been married for 33 years. Carol and Darrell have traveled and had many adventures together. The two of them have always been so tender with one another, each taking care of the other…mother had prepared dinner for Darrell the night before she passed into unconsciousness.
