Our beloved Nina LaRue Blackley Gregg, 80, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones on January 6th 2019.
Nina was born on September 7th 1938 in Heber City, Utah to Don and LaRue Blackley. She had three brothers Duane, Bob and Thurman Blackley.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father two sons Perry and Greg McEwen, and daughter Sherri McEwan Defa. Survived by husband, Theron Gregg, sons Kent and Chad McEwan, Joey Gregg and daughter Christine Gregg. Along with 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Nina had so many accomplishments throughout her life that she was so proud of. She was one amazing women. One of Nina's favorite times were when she would herd sheep in the mountains every summer with her best friend Billie. She always had so many amazing stories she would tell the grandkids about her times in the mountains.
Animals were always a huge part in Nina's life. She bred Dobermans for many years. Mingo was her prized showing dog that won many ribbons and trophies. She sure did love showing off those ribbons.
Another accomplishment she was so proud of was her part in making the 2002 Olympic Medals. She ran the press machine for O.C. Tanner for over 30 years, and was so honored that they put her on the crew. She got to be interviewed for it and was on TV. It was really cool for the whole family to see her.
She had her Saturday routine of playing solitaire in the morning in the backyard listening to Johnny Cash and David Allen Coe, then finishing up the day with hours of yardwork making her gardens so amazingly perfect. She took so much pride in her yard and house. If the Utah Jazz were playing that made her Saturday perfect. She never did miss a Jazz game.
She was a huge part in all of her grandkids life. She loved having them over Saturday night. Always made it to all of their sport/dance functions. As much as she loved those kids she had no problem reminding them that she had a 3 knuckle sandwich to give them if they acted up. She had lost her finger in a work related accident, and would tease the grandkids. She was so fun to be around, and we will miss all her stories of her awesome life.
A visitation will be held for friends and family Friday January 11th between 11 a.m. and 1 pm located at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E South Temple SLC. From there we will drive up to Heber City Cemetery, 680 N 550 E Heber City UT 84032 for the burial services.
She will be greatly missed but she\s in our hearts everyday. We love you Nina LaRue.
