Ruth Christensen Conger

1915 ~ 2016

Cottonwood Heights, UT ‚ Our mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother, aunt and cherished friend was joyfully reunited with beloved husband, Warren, and baby daughter, Ruth, on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Ruth passed away after living a long and full life of 101 years. She died peacefully in her bed at the home of her son, Dee LaMar Conger Sr, and his wife Marilyn, where she had resided for the past nine years. She has enjoyed the loving care and service rendered by her children, Dee, Elaine, Linda and Kay, during this time, as well as that of a stepson, Robert Palmer.

Ruth was the first daughter and second child born to Hyrum E. Christensen and Inger J. Sorensen. She was born in Bear River City, Utah, on September 5, 1915. Her own mother passed away when Ruth was only six; she became the substitute mother to her brothers, Richard, who was only four and Chester aged eight. They could often be seen wandering the streets of the little farming community while their widowed father tended to his farming duties.

She was a very devoted and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She often mentioned being taken to Brigham City to be baptized by her grandfather in his horse drawn buggy when she was eight years old. Ruth and Warren were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Logan Temple. Due to wars and Warren's military service assignments, Ruth was left to raise her children many times by herself; but as time went by, she was able to join her husband and father of her children many places at home and abroad. That service has blessed the lives of many people in Great Falls, Montana; Ogden and Salt Lake City, Utah; Georgia; Florida; Texas; and Japan.

Ruth and Warren served as missionaries in Chile, SA; Texas and Utah. They also served several humanitarian service missions in the Salt Lake area. They also served many years as volunteers in the Salt Lake Temple.

Those preceding her in death are: parents, and daughter Ruth, stepmother, Edna, brothers Chester and Richard, stepsister, LaVelle Jacques.

She is survived by her children, Dee (Marilyn), Elaine Wertz (Don), Linda Tischler (Bob), Kay Francom (Bill), many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Truly she is welcomed home to a loving Father in Heaven with the words, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter into the rest of the Lord."
