Walter Otto Bernstiel, 80, of Salt Lake City died September 17, 2017.
Born April 23, 1937, in Hamburg, Germany to Walter Oskar Richard Bernstiel and Frida Fassmann.
He immigrated to the United States November 1952. He served in the U.S. Army. He fulfilled an LDS mission to Germany. He worked for over 40 years for Intermountain Health Care.
Walter was loved by all who knew him. He tried to emulate the Savior in serving others. He had a very kind and loving heart. He was an active member of the LDS church where he served faithfully in various callings.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Lucy Millfred. He is survived by two sisters: Margaret (Otto) Stoss and Elke (Morris) Daras as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2017, at the 11th Ward, 951 East 100 South, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be held at the ward prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. Entombment: City View Memoriam, 1001 11th Avenue, Salt Lake City.
