Hiroshi Noda

1925 ~ 2016

Hiroshi "Hiro" Noda passed away peacefully on January 30, 2016 at the age of 90. He was born May 14, 1925 in Garfield, Utah to Takejiro and Yukino Inoue Noda. In 1949 he married his beloved wife, life partner and companion, Atsuko "Atsie". They are the parents of 3 loving daughters Debbi (Paul) Larsen, Laurie Noda, and Denise Noda (Lawrence Wiencke). They have 3 much-loved grandchildren, Kelli Larsen (Paul Zitarelli), Staci Larsen (Daniel Carling) and Meilin Wiencke, two sweet great-grandchildren, Lenna and Hiroshi and we all are happily awaiting one more on the way. Hiro is also survived by his sisters, Fumiko (Peter) Shimada and Sue (David) Asano, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ben and a baby brother.

Hiro was a World War II Veteran and served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Hiro was a multi-talented man. At his company Trimline Furniture, he designed and built furniture. As an interior designer at Clark-Leaming Interiors, he was ahead of his time in advocating for mid-century modern design in its infancy. He appreciated nature and Japanese design, and used his creativity to develop wonderful interiors as well as garden designs, art and hand work. With his late brother Ben, Hiro was part of bringing Japanese cuisine to Salt Lake City with the opening of the Hibachi restaurant. He loved skiing and developed a love of the sport in his children.

Always of great support to his family, he also loved and appreciated his friends, and especially his neighbors. Hiro enjoyed cooking and feeding everyone as a way of showing his love. He was always there with encouragement, advice and help when needed. He had a mischievous smile and a twinkle in his eye for his grandkids. He will be greatly missed.

Friends are welcome to visit Saturday, February 6th from 1:30 to 2:00 PM at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary (2350 E. 1300 S. Salt Lake City, UT). A sharing of memories will start at 2:00 PM. There will be a private family graveside at following the service.
