John Henry Marshall Sr

1930 ~ 2017

Our beloved John H. Marshall Sr, 87, passed away Saturday August 12, 2017 of natural causes. He was born in Hatch, Utah June 5,1930 to Henry and Trace Barnhurst Marshall. John loved fly fishing on Assay Creek and wood working at his family's sawmill in Red Canyon. He graduated from East High School in SLC and enjoyed track. He served in the Korean War as a Corporal Medical Aidman, 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment and earned 17 medals. He graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's of Science. John and his lifelong sweetheart chose to serve honorable missions for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at the same time. He served in the New England States Mission and Letitia served in the Salt Lake Regional Mission teaching any nationality who did not speak English. In 1960, John married the love of his life Letitia in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He enjoyed working in the business profession beginning as an auditor and then in accounting for 35 years. He served as Branch President of the Ellenville Branch and then as Bishop of the Kingston Ward in the Albany New York Stake.

He was our exemplar as how to live and follow Christ. His love for our mom was unquestionable and he showed it all the time. He taught us how to serve and to love people for who they are. Our dad loved life and was loved by all.

He is survived by his sweetheart and many family members and friends whom he adored. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Neil, daughter Linda and daughter in-law Kenna.
