Our beloved mother, wife, grandmother and friend passed away on Jan. 29, 2016. She was born Oct. 30, 1921 in Hatch, Utah to Walter A. Marshall and Tenia Barnhurst. She married Leonard W. Carlson on Aug. 15, 1943 and was later sealed in the Jordan River Temple.
Mildred was dedicated to her family and loved having them around her. No matter how challenging, she simply enjoyed living. She loved people, her home, cooking, sewing, and the outdoors. One of the highlights of her life was serving, with her husband, in the Jordan River Temple. She spent her later years fully dedicated to humanitarian service for others. Family, strength and service will be her legacy.
Mildred is survived by her 6 children: Arthur D. Miller (Shawn), Lillian O'Neil (Gordon), Wayne, Susan Giatras (Chris), Janette Porritt (Kris), Kelly (Shauna), 25 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, sister, Zona Bray, and brother, LaVon Marshall. Preceded in death by parents, Lenoard W. Carlson, her sweetheart of 68 years, son, Lenard A. Carlson, daughter-in-law, Pat Carlson, and brothers, Lenard A. Marshall and Clayton Marshall.
The family wishes to extend their love and gratitude to neighbors and everyone who became her extended family at Beehive Homes. She was surrounded by angels who assisted us in her care.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) in Sandy with a visitation from 9:30-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
