Jonathon Andrew Carrillo

1999 ~ 2018

Our beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, grandson and friend, Jonathon Andrew Carrillo passed away on October 11, 2018, at his home in Sandy, Utah at the age of 19.

Jon was born January 7, 1999 in Layton, Utah, the son of Drew Carrillo and Neko Atkinson Carrillo. Jon grew up in Sandy, and attended Altara Elementary School, Crescent View Middle School and Alta High School. At the time of his passing, he was an Honor Roll student at the Honors College at Westminster College in Salt Lake City.

Jon was a kind, thoughtful soul. He excelled at school and had a ravenous love of knowledge. He studied philosophy and psychology, and felt that the world could be made better if everyone understood those topics. He loved Latin, and his face would light up when he discovered the links and origins of words and language. Jon also had an unbound creativity. He was a writer, a musician, and an accomplished artist. He had a passion for trees and plants, and loved to bore his family with names and details of various trees and plants that he would see as we drove around town.

Jon is survived by his father Drew Carrillo, mother Neko Atkinson Carrillo, sister Danika Love, brother in law Nikko Love, and little brother Jacob Daniel Carrillo.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 18 at 6:30 pm at South Valley Unitarian Universalist Society, 6876 S Highland Dr, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation in Jon\s honor to one of his favorite charities, No Kid Hungry - (www.nokidhungry.org), plant a tree or plant in his memory, or give blood.
