Raymond Tracy

1948 ~ 2018

Raymond C. Tracy, age 70, passed away December 18 at his home in Manor, Texas. He was born on May 27, 1948 in Utica, New York. Ray was an employee of the Austin Community College for the past ten years.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Jean; and five boys, Marcius (Romni) of Syracuse, Utah, Christopher (Rachel) of Stephenson, Virginia, Sean of Ogden, Utah, Joseph of Tampa, Florida, and Corey (Alli) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and his beloved adopted daughter, Misty (Dave) of Far West, Utah. He leaves behind the loves that brought so much joy "how to get it right" with the grandkids, Devin, his bud, Sarah, Micah, Amari, Londyn, Jayda, Maddie, Kennedy and McKendrie. Ray is survived by his sisters Terry (Sam) Lanasa, Patty (Punk) Leiby, and Diane (Bill) Davis and his brother, Rick (Sue). He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Martha Tracy.

Ray's attention to detail was legendary and he took pride in everything he did. Ray served in the Vietnam War where he earned two Purple Hearts. Ray retired after 26 years of active duty military service in the Army. During his service, he earned many medals that showed his dedication such as the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal among others. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army never left him as friends and family will attest. He will be missed by all who knew him especially by the love of his life for the last 34 years, Jean.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 22 at 11:00AM at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Boulevard, Austin, Texas followed by a Rosary at 12:00PM. A second visitation will be held on Friday, December 28 at 9:00 AM at the chapel at Utah State Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, Utah with a funeral at 10:00 AM and internment.
