Judith Wilson Nelson

1943 ~ 2017

Judith Wilson Nelson, born September 8, 1943 in Salina Utah, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2017 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Judy was the daughter and only child of Delmer E. "Doc" Wilson and Evelyn B. Lavender. She moved to Salt Lake City when she started high school. She was on the Highland High School pep club her Junior year.

Judy married Fred N. Wall in February, 1967; they later divorced. They had two children, David and Traci. Following her divorce from Fred, she married Douglas L. Nelson, who was to become the love of her life for 38 years.

Growing up Salina, Judy's best friend was her dad. He was a trucker when she was small. She loved traveling with him, delivering coal and salt to the surrounding areas when school was out.

Judy was very talented, and was a perfectionist in all things. She started piano lessons when she was 10 years old, later taking voice lessons. Singing was her true passion. She had belonged to a singing group of nine voices called The Mormonettes.

Judy worked for the State of Utah Department of Public Safety for 30 years. She was an active member of the LDS church, and enjoyed singing in her church choir. During retirement, she loved to read books, pull weeds, and go shopping at the mall. She also spent many precious hours crocheting beautiful afghans and scarves for those she loved. Most of all, she loved planting her garden every spring with her sweetheart, sharing their harvest with family and friends.

Although Judy lived, day to day, in pain and discomfort due to health problems, she endured to the end with great courage and strength. She was a beautiful and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was loved, and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas, earlier this year. Judy is survived by her daughter, Traci (husband Daryl); son, David (wife Patti); and her grandchildren, Traci, Mija and Micah.

A viewing will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Larkin Mortuary, on 260 E. South Temple in Salt Lake City, followed by a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to all of the wonderful people at the Osmond Senior Living Center in Salt Lake City, who provided such good care for our mother during the last month of her life.
